猪苗代湖の西側に位置する会津若松市湊町は、青森県とほぼ同じ気候と言われる。雪深く、桜が咲くのも四月下旬から五月初旬頃である。信号機も少ない、のどかなこの町は自然が豊かで、北方系植物が自生する南限の湿地であり、国の天然記念物の「赤井谷地」を有する。
　冬の朝。町から猪苗代湖の小石ヶ浜方面を眺めると、どこまでも畝の様な雪原が広がり、幻想的な景色となる。
　長い冬もいつか雪解けが来る。周辺の田畑に黄緑色のフキノトウが顔を出し、小川のせせらぎが聞こえてくる。


■Minatomachi located on the west side of Lake Inawashiro, is said to be about the same climate as Aomori prefecture.There are a lot of snow in that town, and cherry blossoms start to bloom from late April to early May.Furthermore, there is a wetland "Akaiyachi" designated as a national natural treasure.In winter morning, looking at the direction of Lake Inawashiro from the town, the snowy field expands everywhere. That is a very fantastic scenery.
